UIW's Student Nurse Association is hosting a Food Drive for the San Antonio Food Bank. FOOD DRIVES are critical to the ongoing mission of collecting and redistributing millions of pounds of food to individuals and families in Southwest Texas who don’t know where their next meals are coming from.

Students may earn 1 hour of service for every 5 canned goods donated. Consider donating: Canned Vegetables: 
-Corn, Green Beans, Sweet Peas, Mixed Vegetables 
Canned Fruit:
-Fruit Cocktail, Pears, Peaches
Proteins:
-Peanut Butter, Pinto Beans, Tuna, Stew or soup
Dry Goods:
-White Rice, Oatmeal, Pasta and Pasta Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, Crackers, Cereal

Other items needed:
-Pet food (
Students may receive 2 hours of service for each new package of ≥10 lbs donated)
-Diapers (
Students may receive 2 hours of service for each new package of 12+ donated. (All sizes are encouraged.))

BINS WILL BE LOCATED ON 1st AND 3rd FLOOR OF NURSING BUILDING.

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
  1. Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.

  2. Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.

If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, we ask you not to register. We are doing all we can to align with best practices and keep our community healthy.
